Digging Dogs Training Center is owned by PetWorks in Mentor. PetWorks offered training classes from 1999-2010 at the PetWorks Doggy Daycare location. Due to high demand, the training classes needed a bigger space and in 2010 the training was moved to separate location - the Digging Dogs Training Center.
PetWorks is Lake County's longest operating doggy daycare, pet sitting and luxury lodging service. We are proud to be Better Business Bureau Accredited with an "A+" rating in addition to being owned & operated by a Certified Professional Dog Trainer.
We welcome visitors during our regular Lobby hours: Monday-Friday 6:45am-7:00pm, Sat/Sun 8:00am-10:00am and 5:00pm-7:00pm. Lobby is closed on all federal holidays. Personal facility tours are given by appointment. Our address is 8790 Munson Rd. in Mentor.
Are you unable to attend a weekly group class for basic obedience skills? Day Training may be a solution for your training needs. The Day Training program includes a day of Doggy Daycare as well as a 30-40 minute private lesson. We will work on obedience basics such as sit, down, no jumping, no mouthing, focus/attention and loose leash walking. We request a minimum commitment of 2 days per week for 3 consecutive weeks. Eash week we will send home notes for you to practice from, as well as a link to a web video to help you practice your pet's new skills. We require that dogs attending this program be spayed/neutered after 7 months of age as well as be current on vaccinations. We will also do a brief evaluation to determine your pet's suitablility for off-leash play in daycare. Fee per day $60.00. Total program fee is $360.00 Follow-up support via phone is included. Please note that this program is not suitable for dog-aggressive dogs.
Friendly dogs play in our specially-designed climate-controlled space with loads of toys, human companionship and canine pals. We have three indoor play areas. Our four outdoor play areas have artificial turf for comfort and cleanliness.
Little dogs & big dogs each have their own play areas - we follow industry standards for separation of dogs based upon 1) size and 2) temperament. We accept most dogs (sorry - no wolf hybrids or protection-trained dogs) for daycare. Dogs over 80 lbs. will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
Dogs attending Daycare must be current on vaccinations (DHPP, Rabies, Bordetella (for canine cough) a minimum of seven days before attending. Dogs 7 months of age and older must be spayed or neutered and pass an evaluation before attending. Evaluations and Tours are by appointment only. There is a $15 evaluation fee for up to 6 hours of evaluation and $24 for a full day evaluation.
Do you need to lodge your dog for one or more nights? PetWorks offers suites with beds and window views as well as Bed-n-Breakfast lodging for small dogs or puppies that are crate trained. All lodging dogs attend doggy daycare each day and are evaluated before being accepted. Other lodging amenities: Webcams to watch your pets play in daycare; Beds, linens & lambswool lounging mats; Free doggy daycare ($24 Value); Fresh air & outdoor play; Low pet to staff ratio for personal service; Pets dine on their regular meals; Drop-off & pick-up seven days a week; Boutique style facility with limited number of guests; Modern facility with enhanced pet comfort and safety features including space conditioning
In-home Pet Sitting
We offer in-home visits for midday let-outs as well as multiple visits per day for vacation coverage. Pet Sitting is a good option for dogs who cannot attend daycare as well as cats, birds, fish and pocket pets. We service a large portion of Lake County.
